PERSONAL REFLECTIONS
Being on vacation this week, I have enjoyed time with my daughters – if you have children you will know what I mean when I say that they remind you how precious time is and how fast it seems to pass.
Time is the one thing that we seem to always say we never have enough of – yet this moment, this minute, this second is with us only once then gone forever.
On last weeks “Biz Growth Live” call you might recall our guest was Therese Ryan who shared with us tips and strategies to recognise stress in ourselves and others.
Therese finished the interview with a poem entitled “Take Time”.
At the request of some of our listeners to last weeks call, I’ve included it in this week’s news letter. It certainly stirred something up in me about how wise or not I am about how I spend my time.
TAKE TIME
Take time to think : It is the source of power
Take time to play : It is the secret of perpetual youth
Take time to read : It is the fountain of wisdom
Take time to be at peace : It is the greatest power on earth
Take time to love and be loved : Is is a God-given privilege
Take time to be friendly : It is the road to happiness
Take time to laugh : It is the music of the soul
Take time to give : It is too short a day to be selfish
Take time to work : It is the price of success
Take time to do charity : It is the Key to heaven
As far as we know, the ‘Take Time’ poem is based on an old English prayer, and the original author is unknown. If you know the author, please let me know.
FEATURE ARTICLE – WHY WE NEED TO BE PASSIONATE ABOUT INFORMATION PRODUCTS
Do you find it a challenge to make time for marketing and promoting you business?
Are you finding it a challenge to manage delivering to current clients and filling your pipeline with potential clients?
As a professional services company we trade our knowledge, expertise and time for money. Wouldn’t it be easier if we had a product to sell as they do in a retail store – then our clients would know what they are buying as it would be more tangible than our professional expertise?
But you can create such a product – it’s called an information product, and can be used to provide a new stream of revenue for your practice or given to potential clients to demonstrate your capability and expertise.
Over the last year I’ve taught over 300 leaders of professional services firms how to turn what they know into cash flow and create information products, from CD’s to ebooks, from white papers to DVD’s.
With the increase of clients turning to the internet for solutions, if you don’t have an information product online, you will be losing out to your competition – not down the road or even in the same town as you, but potentially any where in the world.
It is therefore critical to include the development of information products into your marketing plan.
Here are 7 ideas for how you can use information products to attract your ideal clients and grow your practice:
- Make them available online on your web site to attract potential clients to join your mailing list for your news letter
- Sell them for immediate profit online (you really can make money while you sleep!)
- Use them as a bonus with for purchasers of your services and solutions
- Sell them from the stage every time you speak in front of an audience
- License them and enable others to sell them, and you take a share of the revenue
- Leverage them into other programmes and products at a higher price point
- Repurpose them for a new target market.
So here’s your assignment this week to further strengthen and build YOUR brand:
Consider what your strength is that you could use to create your information product (do you prefer to speak or write)
Review the meetings you have had with recent clients – what information could you have presented to them that would have helped them make a decision that you were the right partner for them
Develop a plan that will enable you to have an information product available for your potential or current clients by the 1 October 2006 (yes this really is possible if you develop a plan and stick to it – I created an audio CD and had it ready to sell in just 24 hours).
NOTE: If you are in Europe, I recommend that you take action soon – less than 3% of professional services firms in Europe have developed information products.
