Express your personal brand with a digital video interview

Digital_video_interview_logo I read today of an exciting new development for recruiters, companies and candidates alike.  A new business is launching this month providing an accessible means of digital interviews.

UK Company, Digital Video Interview Services Ltd (DVI), has a new solution which will certainly have an impact on the recruitment market.

This new service allows recruiters to present the candidates CV and a video interview which will surely help the short listing process.

Digital_video_interview What’s exciting is that DVI also enable candidates to create their own professional video interview too.  This has immense possibilities for people who want to add a professional video to their on line profile, blog or personal web site.  This will hopefully support candidates in being considered for roles even in different countries enabling employers to see the candidate in person before they ask them to a video conference interview or to attend in person.

I wish this had been available when I had been in my SVP Human Resources role – it would have saved a lot of time and expense in the resourcing and recruitment process!

So if you are ready to express your personal brand in it’s all it’s glory, think about adding professional video to your on line profile – it’s definately THE medium of 2006.

    The FutureStep division of Korn Ferry the headhunters hasbeen using video phone technology for a number of years with prospective candidates.

    If the candidate was too far from an office to come in for interview FutureStep would dispatch a video phone via courier and set up a videoo interview.

    This is the next step having the opportunity to use that video as part of the shortlist process.

    With over 10% of recruiters in North America never meetin their candidates they might look to use this as a benefit to them and a value add to clients.

    Also with the job market becoming much more global you can see the added benefits of applying for that CIO position at the Bangalore software company even though you currently live on the West Coast.

    The idea that there are recruiters that never meet candidates before shortlisting them I am afraid leaves me cold!

    My expectations are that a headhunter or recruiter are an extension of the HR department of a business and therefore play an important role in creating a short list of candidates to be considered.

    Based on Paul’s insight, if you are recruiting for a role at the moment I would strongly encourage that you check with your recruitment or headhunting firm how they are pulling together their shorlists.

    After all a new hire is an important investment in your business for your long term success.
