If you have considered podcasting as a strategy for lead generation and brand building, a no cost resource you will find of interest to access is the Wiki for Podcamp Toronto that took place this last weekend.
The organisers have made available video recordings of the event which you can access here.
I have only had chance to view the corporate podcasting tactics panel so far but can recommend the quality of the recordings. It seems as though there are few corporate podcasts as yet in Canada – which is not dis-similar to the situation in Europe.
A few of the salient comments from the panel when asked about how to build the busness case were:
- do not refer to the term podcasting – corporates may respond more favourably to the term ‘internet radio’ which is more easily understood
- if you are referring to one of your own products or services in the podcast, one way of tracking links that come through your podcast is to register as an affiliate in your own programme and use that link in your podcast. Krishna’s insight – this would be fine if you could guarantee people come back to your blog for the url, but if not you would need to domain map to a specific domain name for your affiliate link or use a link generator tool to create a url that is short and memorable if you are to refer to it in your corporate podcast
- ensure that you have an internal champion for the corporate podcast
- consider running a pilot for your podcast and track results.
If you are interested in the subject of corporate podcasting, you will be interested in the Corporate Podcasting Summit Europe which takes place in March. Do let me know if you plan to attend as I will be speaking at the summit on the area of building a business case for your corporate podcast.
