Branding your Tweets: how to reinforce your marketing message or add a call to action to every Tweet

MarketMeTweetsWouldn’t it be nice to brand your Tweets so that every message did not promote the service you are using to send your Tweets from such as Tweetie, UberTwitter, Tweetdeck etc?

Well now you can. Take a look at the Tweet I sent yesterday where under the Twitter message there is a note to say that the Tweet was sent from BizGrowthNews.com.

I managed to do this at no cost and without any technical expertise using a free service from Market Me Tweet (my referral link though it is a free service).

The service runs on Adobe Air so you have to install it on your computer. It is then simple to set up and you can add your domain name, your name or a call to action that will appear under your Tweet each time you Tweet from the application on your desk tip.

Three great additional elements of the service include:

1. You can link your URL to a specific landing page on your website

2. You can change the link and URL should you wish to for specific campaigns

3. You can post to multiple Twitter accounts using the service – though I think the same branding will appear under the different accounts so that’s not a great solution for a PR or marketing agency supporting their clients with Twitter campaigns.

As a free service I think it is certainly worth exploring. The only problem I had was getting the service to publish a Tweet with a long URL using the shortening service built into the application and there is no ability to schedule Tweets.

On my wish list for the application would be to run it as a web based tool and with a mobile service for the iPhone or Blackberry. Adding the functionality that you find in Seesmic, Tweetdeck or Hootsuite where you have additional services and analytics provided with those Twitter clients. Now then that just might make the Market Me Tweet Twitter service really popular.

What do you think? Is branding your Tweets and having your own URL in the link below your message is a great way to reinforce your brand identity online?

I signed up for this few weeks ago and it’s a superb little tool. Would be nice if twitter didn’t use “nofollow” though to nail the anchor text.

Suppose it would just add a lot to the spam though so it’s probably a good thing.

I too was a little disappointed with the utility of MMT though – it’s only really good for posting comments. And the branding feature could very easily be copied by one of the major players.

Finally, I love the marketing of the site – plain, simple and hype-free.

Overall, a great idea but needs a bit of work to get the traction it needs.

Thanks for this great post! Just to note… the main application (still unnamed but should be announced soon) will have a heck of a lot more functionality. Tweetbrand is just the free ‘lite’ version ;) Stay tuned!
