Do you subscribe to Irish Tatler? If you do then you will note that they have a business special in association with All About Business. I was delighted to be asked to write an article in which I cover tips for social media success in business.
As part of the article I provided these 7 tips for leveraging your professional success using LinkedIn:
1. Set your objectives – be clear on your goals for being a member of LinkedIn; what success will look like and who you are going to accept as a connection in your network?
2. Update your profile – ensure your details are up-to-date and include the key words that people will search for you by
3. Use a professional photograph – don’t use a company logo which is against LinkedIn terms of business. Use a photograph that shows you at your best
4. Build your network strategically – send personalised introductions to the business contacts you would like to connect to
5. Use status updates for online visibility – share useful resources and information in your news feed representing your expertise
6. Expand your network joining relevant Groups - participate in Groups including your university alumni or previous employer and join Groups in your business sector
7. Nurture your network – add value to your network of contacts and keep in touch with them. Success with LinkedIn is not about amassing a huge number of connections, but developing a network of trusted contacts who mutually support each others professional goals.
